It is critical to emphasize we do not just talk about Jesus, we proclaim Him as the Crucified One…FOR YOU! This means the very One who was acting on Page One is the One Who came to earth to save us! This truth is an utter scandal to those who seek to make themselves righteous and it is utter stupidity to those who seek to define the world for themselves. But for us, FOR YOU, this message is the POWER OF GOD!
What is Jesus to you? Not who is He, but what is He to you? Is He life or is He death to you? That’s what Simeon is saying. This little baby, the Glory of Israel and the Light of the world, is also the great divider of humanity. You’re either on one side or on the other regarding Jesus. No one stays in the middle forever.
So what do we do with the time between the “Now” and the “Not Yet” when Jesus comes back? For starters, He has “entrusted His property” to us! What does that mean an how do we participate with Him in the advance of His Kingdom? Spoiler Alert: it is not about “how much” nor “compared to others” but rather according to the Grace given to us!!
