What is the Point?
Hebrews 8.1-2 || Jesus is our HIGH PRIEST (we need togo through no one in order to “access” Him) and He is also our KING. What does He do with all of his power? He serves us in the TRUE TABERNACLE (remember, “tabernacle” is the place where God dwells, which is IN US!). This is not about religious practices, it is about the reality of the Risen Christ living in us and making everything new through us!

Hebrews 8.5 || The Old Covenant (remember, “Covenant” = “Partnership”) was put in place to point us to the reality of Jesus, “to lead us to Christ so that we might be declared righteous by faith!” (Galatians 3:24). When we read it, we are convicted of our sin and we learn how much we need Him. But we also learn the story, this plan that was there all along. The vocabulary of family being saved through family, people being made new, heaven coming down to earth, all the while whispering a Name that would be above every Name…

Substance
Hebrews 8.6 || Better promises! That’s what we receive in Jesus: salvation that comes through HIS CHOICES rather than our own. When HE was faced choices, HE never failed. When you and I fail, we put our trust in HE WHO NEVER FAILED.
Hebrews 8.10 || Note how the New Covenant works, it renews the MIND and creates a new HEART! All of this is through those “better promises” by the power of the Holy Spirit! Who. TABERNACLES. In. YOU!!!!
Hebrews 8.11 || The Old Covenant is obsolete. Not the story (i.e. the Old Testament), but the covenant. That partnership has given way to Jesus mission: to seek and save what was lost! To shine His light unto the Gentiles, make disciples of all nations!
