Trusting

A disciple is someone who trusts the promises of Jesus and seeks to follow Him. See Luke 9:18-27 and John 1:43-51.

Luke 6:46-47 | What does it mean to trust Jesus’ promises and follow Him with every aspect of our lives? So simple, so hard: It means to do what He says. But what does He say to actually do? See John 4:13-14, 5:21-27, 6:35-40, 8:12 & 31-59, 11:21-26.

John 6:28-29 | Don’t fall into the trap of “moralizing” Jesus. He never told us to “be good,” He told us to “be perfect” (see Matthew 5:48)! There is only one way: HE IS THE WAY. Believe in Him! What does it look like to believe in Him?

Acts 2:42 | What would happen to our lives if we devoted ourselves to Jesus: To His Word? To the Fellowship of His Body? To the Breaking of Bread (which is the Lord’s Supper)? To Prayer? See Galatians 5:22-26.

Acts 2:44-45 | There comes a time when we either trust Him or we don’t. Uncle Marty once suggested that there are “two conversions”: one of the heart and the other of the wallet. See 2 Corinthians 9:6-11.

Acts 2:46 | Living with Jesus, we gather, we grow, we encourage and we share! It happens by His Spirit, through His Word! See Romans 10:8-17 and Ephesians 3:7-12 and 4:1-16.

Acts 2:47 | We do not grow the church! We follow Jesus. We participate in His mission to seek and save the lost, to bring love and hope to all people! We take what we have been given and we share it. All the while: HE GROWS THE CHURCH. See 1 Corinthians 3:5-11.
